Year Round Historic Tours

The Marshall Historical Society invites you to come and visit the Honolulu House Museum, built in 1860 by a former chief justice of Michigan's Supreme Court and first United States consul to the Sandwich (Hawaiian) Islands.

Two other museums owned by the Society are available for tours: Capitol Hill School Museum and the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Hall Museum.

Capitol Hill School is a two room Gothic Revival building built in 1860. It houses a children's museum room and an 19th century classroom.

Members of the Civil War Veterans Organization built GAR Hall in 1902. It now contains Civil War and World War I and II artifacts and Marshall history memorabilia.

The Daughters of the America Revolution graciously allow the Marshall Historical Society guides to show the Governor's Mansion. This house was built on the speculation that Marshall would become Michigan's capitol. It's a lovely Greek Revival built in 1839 by James Wright Gordon.

Marshall's Historic Landmark District is the largest in the small urban category with over 800 contributing structures. A step on guide is available to take you and your group to the Historical Society museums and the Governors Mansion plus a drive around the historic district.

Cost for the full tour is $10.00 per person (no charge for escort or driver) for this pleasantly nostalgic trip through beautiful Marshall. A step on guide and tour of the Historic District only is $50.00 per coach. The full tour takes about 2 1/2 hours. Other tour information is available upon request.

Reservation must be confirmed one week in advance of the tour date.

Reservations for group tours maybe made throughout the year. Please contact:
